Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Tak, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Kalasin, Udon Thani, Bueng Kan, Mahasarakham, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Phanom, Loei, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Buriram, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Surin and Chanthaburi

Examples of measures undertaken

  • Drinking water supply trucks sent out as part of relief operations
  • Water rationing
  • Provision of low-priced produce (e.g. eggs)
  • Asking farmers to delay rice production (reduce water usage until relief from monsoon rains)
  • Asking farmers to stop off-season cropping and plan more drought-resistant crops (e.g. beans)
  • Cloud seeding to create artificial rain
  • Public awareness – drought situation updates
  • Drought monitoring and forecasting system
  • Drought hazard mapping of drought and prepared water sources map
